Behavior of Arctic Wolves

The arctic wolf can withstand temperatures below zero for years. They are also able to survive up to 5 months in absolete darkness and live weeks without any food. Wolves travel in small packs from 2 wolves up to 20 wolves.

When a female arctic wolf is pregnant, she will leave the pack so that she can dig herself a den to raise her pups. Pups are born deaf and blind, weighing at one pound.

When pups reach three weeks old, they are able to go outside of the den. Other wolves from the pack might sometimes take care of them so the mother can bring some food for her young.
